Irresponsibility At The Top

By indulging himself in irresponsible comments on Sourav Ganguly, Raj Singh Dungarpur is only going as far as tarnishing whatever good reputation, if any, he has managed to keep intact for himself. One wonders how a senior cricket administrator like him can look to damage the reputation of the former captain by saying that the latter is a lazy player, a bad fielder and one who cannot motivate his team. The credibility of such charges is very much under clouds since he has no concrete evidence to support his claims. He has made himself a butt of ridicule by saying that Ganguly would have been better off taking on the Pakistan A side in Pakistan, instead of playing in a first-class domestic match in India. By making such irresponsible comments when he is the officially appointed manager for India’s tour of Pakistan, he is jeopardizing the goodwill and integrity of the already controversy-ridden Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). Moreover, by making the former foreign coach, John Wright a party to his unverified charges, he is also bringing disrepute to India as a nation. Indian cricket has been witness to his cricketing sense for years now. It is only fair to say that it is high time that he bade adieu to all aspects of the game.
