Commonwealth Calamity
The Commonwealth Games has been one of the rare regular happy hunting grounds for Indian sportspersons, and things are expected to go the same way for the highest populated commonwealth nation in the current edition of the Games as well. But the way one of the support staffs of the Indian playing contingent has got himself tangled by the Melbourne police for charge of assault is disgraceful. Equally mystifying is the story coming up on his winning a ticket to the Games as a part of the Indian contingent. The country’s Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry should see to it that India is no further disgraced at least in extra-sports affairs at the Games. In any case, the sword of doping scandal always seems dangling overhead these days.
