Ground Realities

It is shameful that the Yubabharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) in Kolkata is being left bare for political molestation. The pro-development West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharje should have shown the wisdom not to run his convoy through the state’s only synthetic athletic track. There is no justification behind holding a CITU conference, caring a fig for the maintenance of the playing arena only days ahead of the second leg of the National Football League to be held there. The CM is also the information and culture minister of the state. But he has been failing miserably in reining his party people from going against basic human culture by creating a ruckus over election campaigning on walls and now throwing sporting concerns out to the howling winds.
