Out Of The Way To Tarnish
Greg Chappell had no business to speak of the reason why Sourav Ganguly wanted to cling on to the captaincy of the Indian cricket team, and that to a non-Indian news medium. Moreover, there is seemingly no basis behind his allegation against Ganguly’s attitude to his role in the team in and outside the ground. One wonders what made him make the comment that Ganguly wanted to remain the skipper of Team India for money, and that the latter drove the previous coach John Wright as he wished in the later part of the Kiwi’s stint as the Team India coach. Chappell should understand that the Board for Control of Cricket in India should not be taken for granted. The coach should publicly apologize for his misconduct. No matter how good the team performs under his training, he is certainly bound to lose the respect of the squad, and the Indian at large, if he continues to make such irresponsible and demeaning comments against Ganguly.
