Kicked Out
Judging by the scoresheet of the Asian Cup qualifying matches, Indian football is going nowhere. Only around a month back India performed creditably to win the SAARC football championship in Pakistan. But now they are back to their groove of putting up back-to-back wretched shows. There would be very few people expecting India to win or even snatch a draw against Japan, though depleted, but playing in home turf. But India could have fared better in their home match against Yemen. Also a tennis set-like scoresheet in favour of the World Cup qualifiers was not expected from India. The players should have taken to the opponents more confidently. But the team, with the exception of goalkeeper Sandip Nundy, was almost non-existent down the length of both the matches.
