Nuclear Security

The signing of the vital civil nuclear deal with the US will certainly boost India’s profile for securing a permanent membership at the UN Security Council. But the US standpoint on supporting India’s claim is still far from clear. Also it is unlikely that India would vie for explicit US support to secure such a seat, as receiving imperialist support in a such a crucial issue may tantamount to some damage to India’s sovereignty in the US hands.
