The way the ruling Left Front has done away with the old faces from the candidate list for the forthcoming West Bengal State Legislative Assembly elections only goes to strengthen the countrywide thrust on young blood in politics. Another remarkable feature of the striking candidate list is that the entire existing education department has been wiped out. If the Left remains in power in the state, it remains to be seen what the renovated education department can achieve for the state youth. Such drastic overhauling of the candidature also points to the overwhelming confidence that the State Left Front has in its benchstrength.
