Format Overhaul

In view of the consistently ridiculous show of the Bangladesh and the Zimbabwe cricket teams at the international level, it should be a good move on the part of the International Cricket Council(ICC) to introduce a second tier for Test teams. That would allow emerging cricketing nations like Bangladesh, Kenya and Zimbabwe to graduate to the highest level with sufficient preparation beforehand. The criterion for entering this lower tier may be winning a place at such ICC tournaments like the World Cup and the Champions Trophy. The ICC should also be taking more initiatives to develop the standard of domestic cricket in the lesser-known cricketing nations. Mere weekend cricket or even the Twenty20 version is not going to be of much help to the cricketing minnows in the long run.
