Strike Off

CITU, a politically-backed labour organisation, called a transport strike in West Bengal in protest of the Central Government's recent hike in petroleum prices. The strike was successful in bringing normal work to a standstill. But is it not sheerly hypocritical on the part of the Left Front government in the state to undertake such economic reforms like privatisation of the Great Eastern Hotel on one hand, and support such regressive moves like strikes on the other?
