Most of the motorcyclists as well as the pillion riders do wear helmets these days. But that is only a part of the real picture. Often these helmets are the cricket helmets which are only a shade better than showpieces while speeding down the roads on two-wheelers. It is true that the traffic cops, perhaps mainly out of sheer lethargy, do not always care to catch hold of those who care to flout the traffic norms. But, then again, are people not supposed to take due care of their own safety?
