Upliftment And Adaptation

The International Cricket Council (ICC)'s reduction of the ban on Sourav Ganguly may come as a pleasant surprize to the man himself. But considering the scope for subjective interpretations of some of the ICC regulations, the verdict was perhaps expected. However, it remains to be seen how fast the former Team India skipper is able to adapt to playing in the national side under someone else's leadership. The message for him is loud and clear: Deliver the goods or drop out. With the likes of the new guns like J.P. Yadav, Suresh Raina and Yalaka Venugopal Rao in the ranks and the old warrior, V.V.S. Laxman still breathing on his neck, not to forget of Dinesh Mongia, ever in the fringes, Ganguly is certain to have his work cut out.
