The shady Sundarbans have immense potential as a tourism hot-spot. However, since the ecosystem is extremely fragile in this mangrove forest, characterized by halophytic flora and both carnivorous and herbivorous fauna, a scientific approach on the part of the tourism department is the need of the hour. Mere profit motive with more of enthusiasm and less of plan will only spell doom for this delta.
