The ruckus following the return of Rajiv Bhattacharya from Mughalsarai is unprecedented. The West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattcharjee has no business to comment, "This is not a case of kidnapping at all”. Such hasty emphatic remarks from a public figure only heightens the confusion, especially when the matter is still seemingly far from the track of being solved. One wonders how an otherwise respectable figure reputed for his wisdom, could act so irresponsibly on such a sensitive issue, when the otherwise well-off young man imputed against 'disappeared' the day before his wedding.
