Pedestrian Cause

The drivers and the traffic police are not the only persons who are to be blamed for the recent spate of road mishaps in Kolkata. The pedestrians do need to take on the road more carefully, especially when the volume of traffic has multiplied manifold over the years. Pedestrians are very much under the purview of traffic rules, which are meant to be followed stringently, for their own benefit, apart from for the overall smooth traffic movement. Moreover, it is much easier to control one's own legs than handling the steering and the brakes. So, pedestrians have to share the responsibility with the drivers and the traffic police, to prevent road mishaps. The pedestrians need to hit the road with the same clinical efficiency that is required and expected of them to carry out the task for which they have such tremendous hurry, leading to their reckless movements on road.
