Journalism System

It is bewildering to know that some people call the news media unaccountable, for the fact that journalism is more of a profession than a mission these days. But in actuality, it is all the more for this profit-making motive that the media should and must deliver the news accurately. In the modern era of economic liberalisation and the resultant cut-throat competition, we are celebrating the post-centenary golden jubilee of the formal formulation of the principle of the survival of the fittest through natural selection. If the news media is unaccountable, and publish or broadcast faulty information and opinion, the consumers are at liberty to reject them and resort to a more reliable mews medium. So the elements of public vigilance and consequent accountability of the news media are inherent in the system itself.
