In The Right Direction
India's one-day series victory against Sri Lanka has been emphatic to say the least. Credit must go to coach Greg Chappell and his support staff, for making the new face of Team India next to invincible. It is heartening to find the likes of Ajit Agarkar, Irfan Pathan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni achieving consistency. It remains to be seen when the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag are able to follow the footsteps of their younger teammates. However, in spite of the young guns like Rudra Pratap Singh, Suresh Raina, S. Sreesanth and Venugopal Rao, performing reasonably well there is still room for the tried and tested guys like Sourav Ganguly and Zaheer Khan, in particular. Harbhajan Singh has also struck consistency, but Murali Karthik remains a big disappointment. Anil Kumble has to be recalled; he can be an effective super-sub, if the team management has not got enough faith on his batting abilities.
