Human Un-development

India's Human Development Report released by the United Nations reflects the country's dismal performance at the crucial area of human resource. The position though does matter, it is secondary to the overall general performance. Had the latter been satisfactory a low rank compared to the other countries would have been acceptable. The current central UPA government's Common Minimum Programme, if allowed to materialize, should be going a long way in making India come close to the international standards of human development.
