Surviving Nature, Pounded Under Feet
The lethal stampede at Chennai following miscommunication between the authorities and the flood victims only goes to show how poor some relief personnel are in the matter of disaster management. Apart from such routine exercises in firing guns and tear gas, and lathi-charge, each and every policeman - the new recruits and those already at job alike, should be given special training in disaster management, before their final induction into the police force. One just cannot allow people to die because of human mismanagement, especially, even after surviving the wrath of nature.
