Slaying The Devil

It is a novel decision on the part of the authority to charge fees from the Durga Puja organisers for immersion of the idols into the Hoogly river. The pollution of the river has to be checked at any cost, and it is expected that the authorities will use the fund thus generated for clearing the river bed, so that its navigability can be maintained and the aquatic life kept intact.
