It is seemingly getting extremely difficult for the West Bengal Health Department to cope with the dengue menace. The idea for spreading dengue awareness through kites can only be effective if the Kolkatans care to fly kites. But because of various reasons, including the onslaught of computer games, kite-fliying no longer seems to be a passion for the Kolkatans. That the city has to be kept free from roadside garbage to minimise the spread of diseases, is no new message. The roads are to be repaired not only to check the incidence of accidents but also for preventing water from accumulating in them and hasten the outbreak of diseases.
