Interesting Eves’
Women's singles tennis is getting more and more competitive these days, thanks to the absence of any all-pervading superpower, like Roger Federer in the men's version. Lindsey Davenport has strong challenges for the top spot from the likes of Emilie Mauresmo, Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijsters in particular. They also have to contend with such tough oppositions like the Wiliams sisters, Justin Henna-Hardenne, Elena Dementieva, Nadia Petrova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Anastasia Myskina, Patty Schynder, to name a few. Such tough competition makes the matches unpredictable, and hence, interesting. Almost anyone in the top fifteen can defeat each other any day, quite unlike in men's singles, where Roger Federer losing to David Nalbandian is a big news, for the element of sheer singularity attached to the result; Federer as if has not lost an ATP Tour match since time immemorial!
