Health Check-up
The Planning Commission's recent recommendation of legalising prostitution and homosexuality in a bid to check AIDS by bringing the postitutes and the homosexuals under the fold of the AIDS detection and prevention programmes, is novel and bold. Legalising homosexuality may be desirable on social grounds, but on medical grounds legalisation of either of the two, may hit back by making the incidence of sexually communicable diseases more frequent, adding to the menace that AIDS already is.
