Blacked Out: A Paheli

The nomination of Amol Palekar's 'Paheli' as India's entry for the Oscars is a bit bewildering, especially, when there were movies like 'Black', 'Iqbal' in the run. The movie boasts of superb acting and good costumes, apart from masterful direction. But its storyline is weak and the fairytale script and screenplay are unlikely to impress the Oscar jury. 'Black' with its exceptional performance and treatment should have been India's best bet for the Oscars this time.
