Bird Virus Affecting Humans

The drop in chicken consumption is certainly a precautionary measure, at least in eastern India, where there has been no report of spread of bird flu virus. It is certainly better not to consume chicken meat and eggs as there is hardly any medicine to cure the human version of the bird flu disease. The drop in chicken consumption may be more an outcome of panic than precaution in those parts of the country where there has been reported cases of bird flu among the birds themselves and alleged cases of incidence of bird flu in human beings.
